About SIAMG
Medical Genetics has emerged as an important specialty over the past two to three decades, pervading all branches of medical practice. To highlight the importance of this specialty and to improve its reach across India, the Society for Indian Academy of Medical Genetics (SIAMG) was established in January 2012. SIAMG is a professional organization consisting of qualified medical geneticists from all over India as its members and other professionals with an interest in the field as its associate members. SIAMG is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The main objectives of this academic body are to improve the quality and accessibility of clinical genetics services in the country, to promote medical genetics-related education and research, to help integrate medical genetics research into patient care, and thereby to promote the overall advancement of this medical discipline in India. The IAMG serves as a forum of interaction for medical genetics centres across the country to enable coordinated patient care, research and teaching in the field of medical genetics. This expert group is also meant to act as an advisory body and issue practice guidelines on matters pertaining to medical genetics.
